Dr. Jena Peterson

Dr. Jena Peterson is a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) licensed by the State of Washington. She received her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in 2004. After graduating from Bastyr, she did a residency at the Evergreen Center for Integrative Medicine, where she now works. She is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians (WANP), and the Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility (WPSR).

She specializes in family medicine, craniosacral, and mind-body medicine.

Dr. Jena is also licensed in massage therapy (LMP); this adds another dimension to her naturopathic practice. She also sees patients for physical medicine, accidents and injuries. She focuses on the management of injuries using treatment-focused massage, craniosacral therapy and reiki. She will often refer her patients out for further massage.

Dr. Jena received her BS in psychology, biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Arizona. As an undergraduate at U of A, she had the opportunity to workfor Dr. Andrew Weil, who inspired her to pursue a degree as a doctor. She has also worked as a counselor for JIPS (Juvenile Intensive Probation) teens for 3 years.

Of becoming a Naturopathic Doctor, Jena says “After applying to MD schools, I was frustrated with my personal health care, and saw an ND. I was so impressed, I withdrew my applications for those schools and applied to ND school.  Being a Naturopathic Doctor allows me to focus on what the patient needs most to heal. I use “allopathic” medicine (pharmaceuticals, minor surgery) when it is appropriate. I believe that ALL treatments can be naturopathic based on their intent in use. I love spending time with my patients – getting to know each of them. I absolutely love my job – I feel incredibly lucky to be doing something I not only love, but that I believe in.”
